Closet Makeover Adds Usability to Your Home

Today I wanted to share my recent closet makeover experience as well as my recommendation for the great local company that helped me achieve my vision for it.

When Good Closets Go Bad

When you’re in the market for a home, you tour a LOT of homes. (And when you’re a Realtor, you tour even more!) You see a lot of closets. And when they’re empty and freshly painted, they all look good. But once you move in and start putting your own things in there, your opinion of a closet can change really quickly. Take my original closet in my current home. It looked great, with long spans of hanging space. It was a great closet…for someone with lots of dresses and fancy blouses. That’s not me. I realized I needed way more shelf space for shoes and things like folded running clothes, and less hanging space.

Knowing My Limits

As much as I love watching all the home design shows on TV, you’d think I’d be raring to tackle my own closet makeover. Nope. I know myself well enough to know that I contribute the greatest value to a makeover project when I’m the visionary, not the one who’s measuring, sawing, nailing, and painting. So I knew I was going to need help.

Classy Closets Made my Closet Classy

In my work as a Realtor, I get exposed to a wide variety of vendors and contractors for home improvement projects. I carefully check them out and cultivate a network that I can feel good referring my clients to. One of these trusted vendors is Classy Closets. With 14 locations, they cover the state from Fort Collins to Pueblo and from Glenwood Springs to Castle Rock. They’re consistently 5-star rated on Yelp. And they can help with lots more than just your bedroom closet — think about how great it would be to have an organized home office, garage, laundry room, kitchen, pantry, or home library!

As you can see in the video, I now have a great closet that works great for me. Classy Closets worked with me to figure out the best mix of hanging space, shelving, etc. for me. I love it! And one of the best parts was how FAST the project went! The installation team was in and out — with a fresh coat of paint over their work to boot — in about 3 hours.
