First-Time Homebuyers Share Advice

Buying your first home is exciting and terrifying
all at the same time. First-time homebuyers Mallory and Marciano
discuss their experience working with Jennifer Morrissette
their Realtor and share advice in this short video.

When you are doing something you’ve never done before – like buying your first home – it only makes sense to seek guidance from an expert. And when what you’re doing involves agreeing to make payments for a period of time that’s longer than you’ve actually been on the planet (i.e., a 30-year mortgage, LOL), it becomes even more important.

I recently had the pleasure of helping young couple Mallory and Marciano buy their first home. In this video, they discuss their experience and how they felt at the various stages. When I asked them what advice they would give to people looking for their first home, they said:

  1. Use Jenny as your agent. (I swear, I did not tell them to say this, nor did I pay them to!)
  2. Realize that there are some aspects of the process that you can’t control. If you know this ahead of time, you can be more calm. And when you have a great agent, you can trust her/him to give you a heads-up about these aspects so you’re not caught off-guard.
  3. Have all your ducks in a row before you start. Get prequalified for a mortgage. Know what you can afford, what your down-payment will be, and how much you will actually be spending each month.

Congratulations on buying your first home, Mallory and Marciano! It was a pleasure working with you, and I’m honored you chose me to help make one of your dreams come true.
